Star City Homebrew Throwdown 2017
Organized by the Star City Brewers Guild of Roanoke, VA
This competition is registered with BJCP. We agree to follow the requirements of a sanctioned competition and will use 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines.. Meads and ciders are NOT allowed.
The competition is limited to 125 entries. Entry deadline is 21 October 2017 or when the 125 limit is reached. Your beer is not officially entered until payment for entries has been made.
Payment is accepted only through PayPal. Entry fee is $7.00 per entry. Edits to entries are NOT allowed after 21 October 2017.
Competition is limited to homebrewers who are 21 years old or older. All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e. no use of commercial facilities, or Brew on Premises operation, supplies, etc. and no beer brewed by a professional brewer.)
The competition organizers are not responsible for entries placed in the wrong category, entries that are not received by the deadline or entries that arrived damaged.
Reasonable efforts will be made to contact entrants whose bottles have broken to make arrangements for sending replacement bottles. Please pack your entries carefully!
Brewers are limited to 4 entries.
Brewers are not limited to one entry in each BJCP category but may only enter each subcategory only once. For example, one may enter a Belgian Pale (16B) and a Belgian Saison (16C) but may not enter two Saisons, even if they are different brews.
Quality judging of all entries is the primary goal of our event. Judges will evaluate and score each entry. The average of the scores will rank each entry in its category. However if entries in a single category are judged at more than one table or session, the highest scoring entries will then be judged in a mini BOS to determine 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. The entry receiving 1st place in the Mini BOS will then move to the BOS round.
The competition organizers reserve the right to combine styles and categories for judging purposes and to structure award categories as we see fit. All possible effort will be made to combine similar styles. All entries will be judged according to the BJCP style they were entered in.
